DIRECTORS
Todd Duncan is Program Director of Wellspring Australia. A native of Montana, Todd received B.Sc. degrees in Geology and Geography from the University of Colorado. He has guided student adventure programs on five continents, including Australia and the Big Island of Hawaii, and has a passion for teaching natural history and environmental education to teens. Todd has managed conservation and research projects around the world for The Nature Conservancy, and has developed educational and professional training programs to serve students and scientists. A competitive athlete and avid woodworker, Todd is often found exploring new geographies with a surfboard and fly rod. During the winter, Todd serves as Program Director of Wellspring Hawaii.
Aki Morita, Psy.D. is Clinical Director of Wellspring Australia and is a Behavioral Coach during the academic year at Wellspring Academy of California. Dr. Morita received her masters degree from Teachers College, Columbia University and her doctorate from Long Island University in New York. Over the past decade, Dr. Morita has closely worked with numerous adolescents and their families in various multinational and multicultural hospital and clinic settings. Dr. Morita is fluent in Japanese and her love for languages and cultures has led her to live in Singapore, the Big Island of Hawaii, and in multiple cities in the U.S. Dr. Morita has also studied in China and Mexico.
Daniel S. Kirschenbaum, Ph.D., is Clinical Director of Wellspring and Wellspring Camps and a professor at Northwestern University Medical School in Chicago. He has developed several very successful weight loss programs affiliated with hospitals, has been a consultant for the U.S. Olympic Committee, Weight Watchers, Novartis Nutrition, the National Basketball Association, the Ladies Professional Golf Association, the Chicago Bears, and is a Past President of the Division of Exercise and Sport Psychology of the American Psychological Association. Dr. Kirschenbaum is the recipient of numerous grants for research and the author of over 100 articles in scientific journals and nine books, including Treatment of Childhood and Adolescent Obesity and the 9 Truths About Weight Loss, the latter unanimously endorsed by the Board of Directors of the American Council on Exercise as "the best book ever written for the public on how to lose weight and keep it off."
